"THERE IS NO POWER FOR CHANGE GREATER THAN A COMMUNITY DISCOVERING WHAT IT CARES ABOUT." – MARGARET J. WHEATLEY
What is a Canale?
Initiated from the vision and support of Sewanee alum John Canale C’67, the Canale Leaders program enables current Sewanee students to apply each year to serve and work as a student leader with local community partners supporting their work for positive social change.
Canales build their civic identity and sense of civic agency through leadership training and a supportive community of student servant leaders, while working on community-identified needs and projects.
